Built in the 18th Century as a traditional Country Inn,

The Rockingham Arms is located on the site of one of the last complete medieval battlefields in Europe,

which is famously known for hosting the bloodiest battle ever to be fought on English soil (Battle of Towton 1461).

The Battlefield Trail, that starts right on our doorstep, offers walkers and history buffs alike the chance to explore

one of Yorkshire's most notable landmarks at their own pace, with a conveniently placed pitstop (that's us!)

to visit either before, or after the walk. 

You can explore the battlefield at any time of year, either unaccompanied or as part of a guided tour,

and you can find out everything you need to know over at the Towton Battlefield Society's very own website,

which you can view here.
