Do I need to book?We strongly encourage customers to book a reservation in advance to guarantee a table. We also politely ask that you do not book via the website 'on the day' for Sunday Lunch service, but instead, call the venue on 01937 530 948 to avoid disappointment. Parties of 5 people or more are advised to check ahead for table space and parties of 10 people or more may need to provide a pre-order. Booking in advance helps us to not only fully maximise our resources as a small business, but also ensures your experience with us is as streamlined and enjoyable as possible. You can call, email or message us, via the 'Book a Table' tab, located at the top of this site. WORTH NOTING: Bookings will always be confirmed either via phonecall, email or text, so please wait for confirmation before arriving! Please CALL US for last minute Sunday Lunch bookings! Sadly we cannot always guarantee walk-ins or same day email reservations

Are you wheelchair accessible?Due to the original design and layout of our 18th Century building, we are not perfectly suited for access by wheelchair users. However, we have recently created a concrete ramp leading into the back garden area, straight onto the decking space, to make access a little easier to our outdoor are. We are also currently looking towards creating a similar style ramp at our front entrance. Plenty of wheelchair users do visit our venue with no complications though and our friendly team are always at hand to offer assistance. Toilet access may be difficult for some users due to the differing ground levels between the back conservatory and front bar area. Please give us a call to discuss your requirements, so that you may make an informed decision based on your own personal circumstances.

Can you cater for food allergies & intolerances? In short, yes, but at the customer's own risk. Although every effort is made to avoid the cross-contamination of allergen related products during our food preparation process, we can never 100% guarantee that cross-contamination will not occur on our premises. There is always a possibilty of airbourne transmission and other factors outside of our control. We do however, use specifically allocated equipment, where possible, (such as a separate deep-fat fryer for our skinny fries) and are commited to ensuring any risk to our customers is kept to an absolute minimum, by preparing their dishes separately. We are proud to offer a large selection of dishes that do not contain gluten on our menus, but we may need at least 24/48 hours notice to accomodate any other dietary requests, such as a dairy intolerance. Please call us before you visit to discuss your requirements in more detail and to allow us the opportunity to source any relevant ingredients! (We now also stock Soya Milk so that our dairy-free customers may enjoy a hot drink with us, and we also always try to stock a 'Vegan & Gluten Free' cheesecake to have at our disposal to satisfy any dessert cravings!) Customers with severe allergies or intolerances are advised to call ahead and discuss their specific requirements with our management team, so as to avoid any disappointment on the day of their visit. They are also encouraged to bring any life-saving equipment such as an EpiPen along with them, as we do not currently have one on site. ALLERGEN & INTOLERANCE DISCLAIMER: The Rockingham Arms, Towton accepts no liability for any harm or injury caused to our customers in the event of an adverse reaction to food consumed either on, or off, our premises. We wish to make clear that we cannot ever guarantee that cross contamination will not occur on our site and also wish to take this oppportunity to remind our customers of their obligation to inform us of any allergies or intolerances at the time of ordering. An allergen notice is located on our main chalkboard in the bar entrance, as well as on our food menus.

Do you cater for vegetarians / vegans?Unfortunately, we just don't have the facilities to prepare an extensive range of vegetarian or vegan options every day. But we do offer at least one vegetarian and vegan starter, main and dessert option on our menus, as well as a Veggie Roast Dinner on Sundays! Sadly we're too small a team at the moment to offer a Vegan Sunday Lunch. Please call us to find out more, as our chefs can sometimes create alternatives with advanced notice; particularly in the case of functions and special events, where extra time is taken to create bespoke dishes.

Do you host special occasions?Yes, often! Special occasions and family gatherings are what we do best. Your very own DJ with professional equipment can be hired for large parties and events and our two function spaces can also be decorated at a small cost. You are welcome to bring a cake for the guest of honour too! Our private Print Room can seat up to 10 people comfortably and sometimes up to 12, (if everybody breathes in!). Our conservatory holds roughly 24 seated diners depending on table arrangement, but can cater for more if full seating is not required. (ie buffets) Call and speak to our team, or email us at bookings@therockinghamarms.pub with details of your requirements and we'd be happy to talk through any questions you might have.

Are you dog friendly?Of course, we're located on a famous battlefield trail. However out of courtesy to our diners in the restaurant, your canine companions are very welcome in the bar, conservatory and garden areas, particularly during busy periods. Any doubts please ask at the time of booking.

Are children allowed?Absolutely! Though there are a couple of points to note: Children under 18 must vacate the premises by no later than 9pm and must always be accompanied by a responsible adult. Particularly young children must be discouraged from playing around food preparation and service points, in order to avoid injury during food service times. Children of ages 16 and 17 are legally allowed to drink one glass of beer, wine or cider with their table meal, provided the drink has been bought and paid for by their responsible adult. Highchairs are available - please let us know when you book! Baby food brought on to the premises by customers may be heated up at their own risk.
-
Do you have Free Wifi?Yes! As we're out in the countryside, you might have guessed our signal isn't often the best! But we took the time to install a separate 'customer only' wifi, in an effort to help increase internet loading speed for those that need it. Look out for the Wifi Boards dotted throughout the venue, or ask to borrow the landline in case of emergencies.
-
Do you sell gift vouchers?Yes! Simply pop in and collect any denomination you require, or call and pay over the phone to receive a PDF version via email, for you to print at home.

Where can I get information on The Battlefield Trail? The Trail is signposted for Walkers to read up on the history behind The Battle of Towton, as they make their way around. You can even attend a guided tour, hosted by The Towton Battlefield Society - you can contact them here. Battlefield Maps are available to buy from the bar for £3. Please pay separately to your table bill if at all possible.

Is there a smoking area?Customers are now advised to use their own judgement as to where to smoke when drinking or dining in our beer garden. It may be more realistic under the current government guidelines to spread out around our grassy area, to avoid disturbing other diners and coming into contact with people from outside your household. Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside the venue. Anyone seen doing so, may be asked to leave. Kindly use the ashtrays provided outside to help us comply with the conditions of our Fire Safety Risk Assessment!
